The management of the farm is family run since 1728. In the middle of the spa town of Laa, the wine town of Poysdorf and the district capital of Mistelbach, the Staatzer Berg rises at the beginning of the Laa plain. At the foot of the limestone cliff lies the wine farm with its guest rooms. In a quiet central location you can relax in our spacious rooms with balcony. In five minutes you can walk to the rock stage, where musicals are performed in summer. You can enjoy a picnic on the mountain or have a snack at the wine tavern, which is open three times a year. The advantages are the strengthening of the local economy. Soft tourism strives to take social and regional conditions into account and to develop tourism concepts together with the local population that promote the common good, quality of life and local prosperity. Socio-cultural participation and autonomy are promoted through the participation of the local population and the creation of new jobs. Traveling gently therefore automatically boosts the local economy and invests in economic security. In addition to the need to have as little negative impact as possible on the environment and nature when traveling, the experience of traveling is of course also at the forefront of soft tourism. Holidaymakers who opt for a gentle form of travel want to gain as authentic an insight as possible into the life and culture of the local population and travel close to nature. This also includes enjoying typical regional cuisine.

The disadvantages are that the development of soft tourism into a mass travel trend can have the opposite effect of what this type of travel actually stands for. This is because the growing demand to travel to certified areas inevitably leads to an increase in the encroachment of previously untouched ecosystems. This not only damages biodiversity, but also comes at the expense of the indigenous population, who have lived in harmony with nature for centuries. If this is destroyed, other people’s livelihoods are being gambled with.

Marketing activities in social media are planned and considerations are made as to how to stand out from the competition. From online bookings, which are now possible from anywhere, to the digital use of data, which allows tourism companies to categorize customers and send individual advertising messages, to virtual worlds of experience and digital travel tools – the travel industry is already in the midst of disruptive change. While it will still take some time before immersive and tangible technologies become widely established, the train is already rolling when it comes to conversational commerce. Here in particular, it is worthwhile for companies to develop new business models now in order to fully exploit the possibilities of new technologies and accompany travellers along the entire travel chain.

In the entrepreneurial area, further training should be promoted, as it is essential for the economic viability of agricultural businesses. Business competence provides the motivation to specialize and innovate in order to make the most of one’s own strengths. This and the preservation of jobs can prevent migration from rural regions that are particularly affected by demographic developments and create a sustainable situation for future generations. Innovative mainstays of diversification are largely created and developed by women. This agricultural entrepreneurship also requires ongoing high-quality entrepreneurial training and business advice. High-quality further training for women farmers is essential to enable them to take on responsibility on the farm and in society. This requires tailor-made training programs for the qualification and motivation of women farmers to participate in agricultural, regional and communal levels of action. Suitable educational programs should remain affordable for women farmers.
