The small village of Lympia is situated in the outskirts of Larnaca, just a 20-minute drive from Larnaca airport. With a population of about 3000 people, this is a place where you’ll be treated to the traditional Cypriot hospitality.

After the restoration done by their father, Kyriakos and his siblings decided to do what they loved more, to offer authentic Cypriot hospitality in their village. Today is a family–run business offering authentic experiences from accommodation to catering services, organizing small events, seminars and other activities related to the culture and nature of Cyprus.
Although none of the family members had any previous experience in this field, there is a good level of serving hospitality. Hosting and serving people brings them joy and fulfillment.
Operating the family business and offering multifunctional services are a lot of advantages like increase of income, the increase of knowledge of the team, the challenges and the opportunities and the creation of relationships with new people from different countries. The disadvantages are the competition, the social media, the promotion and advertising which require a lot of investment.
Recently the property owners introduced innovations like the Zero energy by the installation of solar panels in order to reduce energy losses and in the coming months they are searching ways to combine agrotourism with Artificial Intelligence. At the same time they are offering a lot of services based on gastronomy (offer Cyprus breakfast), the promotion of local products (organization of master classes), hiking activities, and social farming. Kyriakos, one of the owners of the property, is a very active person in terms of his connections with tourism networks and his cooperation with tour operators. He is also the General Secretary of the Cyprus Agrotourism Company.
Kyriakos encourages other farmers to implement agrotourism in their farms since it is a market where there is growth and they can provide good income. The multifunctionality is the key to success since the offering of many activities related to nature and culture increases income. Also he is inspiring young people in his area to deal with farming and agritourism. Some necessary criteria to success is the good location with easy access, the connected grid with other activities related to agrotourism, advertising and selling skills of the team members and the most important the love and respect for serving people and nature.
The Farms’ Charm project aims to develop learning materials to educate small and medium-sized farmers in possible ways of starting their agritourism activities which will help them not only diversify their incomes but also promote their farm products directly to consumers. All that while reviving the rural areas and local communities and promoting a sustainable way of tourism which is in line with the tendencies of slowing down and staying longer at one area.
